Notes For Buyers

Live Auctions are held on the first Wednesday of every month commencing at 11 am with 'viewing day' the day before from 10 am to 2 pm.  The Sale Catalogue will go live online at least a week before the sale.    

Timed Auctions will be held monthly around the third week of the month which will consist of lots that did not sell in the 'Live Auction', subject to Vendors instructions, and also items that missed the closing time of the 'Live Auction'.

 

Condition Reports

Condition reports are given on information provided by the Vendor and the Auction House will not be liable for any misrepresentation on any of the lots in the sale. All weights and measures given in the catalogue are deemed to be approximate to the best of our ability.

We would advise, where possible, any items you wish to purchase should be viewed in prior to purchase, the Auction House will not be responsible for items purchased from information and photos in the catalogue.

Buyer's Premium

A buyer's premium of 20% plus VAT will be added to all lots that that are sold.  The Auction House are open to discuss a reduction of commission on single items over £100,000 of the hammer price.

 

Different methods of bidding at our auctions:

Registering to bid with us

Persons wishing to participate and bid in the auction who are not previously known to us will need to register. Bidding is by number, to help preserve anonymity and on registering with us you will be given a personal bidding number for use in the sale.

To register with us we will ask you for the following:

A current passport or photographic driving license.
Or
A reference from an auction house that you have purchased items from recently.

You will either be asked to show your documents or email to us prior to the Auction.
Once registered with us you will be able to bid with us using one of the four following methods.

Bidding in person in the room

Simply execute your bid(s) using the number that you obtained on registering.

Commission Bidding

Once registered, if you are unable to attend the sale in person you can leave a commission bid with us using your registered number. We will do our best to purchase the lot(s) for you as cheaply as possible bearing in mind other bids and reserve prices.

Telephone Bidding

Once registered, it is possible, by prior arrangement, to bid on the telephone on lots.

Payment and Clearance

Payment is due in pounds sterling immediately after the auction by 'End of Auction Invoicing'.  
If present in the Auction Room then payment can be made immediately by cash, debit/credit card payment or online transfer.
If an internet bidder then payment by online transfer to the bank details at the foot of our invoice or debit/credit card which please telephone the Auction House.  Payment for won lots is to be paid within 48 hours of the Auction.  Where shipping is required, the lot(s) will be collated, weighed and if within the UK then an email will be sent with the additional costs being incurred for postage and packing.  Please note that postage will be by Royal Mail Special Delivery Tracked and Insured.  If lots are required to be sent outside the UK then the Buyer should make their own arrangements for the lot(s) to be collected from the Auction House by your chosen courrier, e.g. UPS.

Collection of Purchased Items

Please be aware that purchased items such as furniture, clocks and other large, unwieldy objects will remain in the saleroom and be available for collection up to 3 working days after the sale. Unless prior arrangements are made with the auctioneer goods not collected will be subject to storage charges of £5 (plus VAT) per week, or part thereof. Items will not be released until such accruing charges have been paid.

If any Invoice remains unpaid for more 7 days after the Auction, we shall, at our absolute discretion and without prejudice to any other rights, rescind the sale.

Packing and Shipping

We ensure all items are able to be packaged and wrapped with protective bubble wrap and supporting packaging, where necessary, but we cannot accept responsibility for any damage that may be incurring during transit to you.  However, should this arise then we would seek to invoke the Royal Mail Insurance unless you have made your own collection arrangements.  The cost of packaging will be noted to you when advising of the postage and packing.  We do not post very large and/or fragile shipments but have recommendations below. We do not post items outside of the UK. Please note that although every effort is taken to ensure items are safe, we cannot accept liability for goods damaged in transit.
